Controversial Figures

In this blog I have to write about a musician that seems to always be under the spotlight of media. Some one who i can either support for their actions or rip them apart just because they are who they are. For this blog I choose Paris Hilton.
She has no talent. She can't sing and all she does is get people to write music for her and put down a good beat. I don't know what her T.V. show is supposed to do for her either. Honestly if you need to make a show about getting a best friend, then you have no real friends. Your life is fake!
Her daddy has alot of money, she is a lucky girl. I guess her show gets her money too. What does her dad even do? I don't know, but to waste that much money on some music that isn't worth being made is just bad.
Her t.v. show, why does she have it? Why do people watch it? I've watched it once or twice and all it seems to do is make her look stupid. Stuck up and plastic, and yet again. Fake.
I'd like to know if she was put in voice lessons before she decided to actually make a cd, or record anything for that manner. I've listened to half of one of her songs and then shut it off because it wasn't even close to her real voice. There was reverb put on it and other effects that made her voice sound, well good. You shouldn't need that though to make your voice sound good. The money that is wasted on her singing career could be used to find solutions for cancer or something better like that! It's too bad though. Oh well.

Rant #1

Want to know something? I'm a guy that usually doesn't get irritated very easily, but when people tell me I'm a loser or call me a fag for listening to the music that i listen to. No, that just doesn't fly with me. It gets under my skin like you wouldn't believe!

You would never see me going around talking bad about the music that you listen to. Want to know why? Because it's your music, not mine. I may tell you that I don't like that specific song or band but I'm not going to start trash talking you for it. It's just not fair.

I have enough respect to not do that, so why do people have to do that to me? It's my choice, if you don't like it then don't listen to it. If you don't listen to it then you don't have the right to trash talk it, because you probably haven't looked into the real meaning of the lyrics or the way the music makes you feel.

So again I say that it is my music, not yours. Please don't be prejudicial about it. Thanks

Is Music the Career for Me?

Is music the career for me? I honestly would love to do it, but I just don't think that I am talented enough for it. It's to late in my life I think to start training for it too, so I will either just use it as a hobby or an every day Go - To type of friend for all of my needs including to have fun, or just relax after a long days' work.
I might use it as a hobby. Start a garage band with a bunch of friends and just cover our favorite songs. I could also get my children into music and raise them in a very musical enviroment. I would be very proud as a parent to have a child that is successful in the music bussiness.
Music is always going to be a part of my life. Doesn't matter if it is a career choice or just a backround kind of thing. I love music and it will always be in my life.

Thoughts on Music: Technology #1

So Music Tech is going well. There are a lot of things that I've learned in such a short time already like what different mics do, even though I sometimes can't remember which ones are which. Or how to set an EQ for the band and even mixes a track.
I haven't found to much challenging. It's all pretty straight forward once it's explained the first time. At the beginning of the course I didn't have a clue what mics were even called, but now I know both what their called and why their called that. Another thing i find challenging would be giving the band that "right" sound. It's hard but I like doing it alot!
What has been easy in the class? Almost everything, like I said before it's all pretty straight forward. I'd have to say the easiest task to do is either plugging the mics into the snake or setting the gains for all of the mics in the band.
All around, Music Tech is a really enjoyable class. I get to look forward in the morning to coming into the band room and just hanging out with my classmates while listening to the sweet music they make! It's alot better than having to wake up and think, "Great! Another English class I can sleep in." Music Tech is definetly not like that at all. It's fun and you learn alot. Hey there is something you don't find much in school!
One thing that I hate about this course. That just burns me up, is how you go to set a gain or plug something in, and the volume is turned way up! You know that screeching sound you hear when you scratch a chalk board? Imagine that times twenty. It's terrible, I've learned the hard way to keep the volume turned down when doing that kind of stuff. Oh boy does it hurt the ears.
To finish this post off, I'd like to see alot of things in this course, but not so much that it gets confusing and complicated. Things such as getting into more detail on setting EQ's, or setting the mix board so that every little things sounds perfect. That would be nice, I think I'm going to have to start experimenting!

My Least Favorite Things

Like I said in my second post, I usually listen to all kinds of music. It's hard not to let the beat of a song get to you where you're tapping your foot to it.
I do dislike some music though. Not much, but there is that one song that gets under my skin for some reason. Let it be the lyrics or the beat of the song.
Most rap is not that great. Alot of it talks about sex and drugs and money. I just don't see the point in listening to it. There is better music that actually talk about life, or things that have true importance. I'm not saying that all of it is bad, that would just be stereotyping it, But songs like "ass and titties"? Do you really need to write about women in the manner of objects like that? That is just my opinion though.

My Favorite Things

I listen to almost any type of music, from country to heavy metal and everything in between. I listen to rock the most probably though, or alternative. The reason i listen to all kinds of music is because it all makes me feel different. Music effects my mood daily.

Most people call my music "depressing". There is absolutly nothing depressing about my music! My favorite songs are Boston - Augustana, Come Home - One Republic, and Your Guardian Angel - Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. I like to listen to these songs because they calm me down and put me into a mood where the world's weight doesn't weigh near as much on my shoulders.

What is Music?

My opinion on Music
My personal opinion of music is very strong, I doubt that i could live without it. Music is an opinion of the person/people that have written or sung it. It is everywhere in this world, sometimes used spiritually, sometimes used just to be there keeping the person company.
Music to Me is
Music to me is a place to go and relax. I use it to do alot of things such as; concentrate on work, get pumped up for sports, or sit in my room drowning out everything else but my thoughts. To other people? I really couldn't tell you. Maybe their just like me, but maybe they see music as something else. Afterall, everyone has their own perspective on these sort of things right?
Music in My Everyday Life
I almost always have music playing in my ears or around me, and if i don't have anything playing, I'm humming the last catchy song that i heard in my head. I use music in class and even in the change room getting ready for a football game. Zoning into my concentration, picturing hitting the other team as the bass beats into my head. Drilling them into the ground with every down beat. So as you can see, music is a very powerful ingredient in my everyday life. From waking up in the morning, to falling asleep at night. Music is there for me, like a best friend would stick with you through a war. You know? Kinda sorta like that.
And this is what music is to me!
